Latvian Minister of Economics Viktors Valainis Visits Pulsar Optics in Daugavpils

On 28 August, Pulsar Optics SIA welcomed Latvian Minister of Economics Viktors Valainis to its site in Daugavpils. The visit followed the minister’s first visit to the company in April 2024. This time, the focus was on the changes made over the past two years, as well as the development of production and the expansion of the company’s technological capabilities.

“We showed the clean room, demonstrated how thermal modules are produced, and presented the new printed circuit board (PCB) production line and the automated optical inspection system. The system checks whether components are correctly placed on the board, and its algorithms can be further trained using artificial intelligence,” said Technologist at Pulsar Optics SIA.

The guests showed particular interest in the thermal modules and finished optical devices, which demonstrated the full product journey — from individual components to final assembly.

“We appreciate the opportunity to show how high-tech manufacturing works in practice at our Daugavpils site. For us, such visits are important because they create direct dialogue between business and state institutions and help decision-makers better understand both the capabilities of companies in the region and the conditions needed for their further development,” said Janis Roze, Chief Revenue Officer at Yukon AOW.

After the visit, the minister highlighted the importance of investment, modern manufacturing, and well-paid jobs for the development of Latgale. According to him, companies such as Pulsar Optics show that the region is capable of creating technologically advanced products and operating successfully in export markets.
